(CNN) -the shooting death of a 15-year-old Amish girl in East-Central Ohio this week might be ruled an accident, a Holmes County Sheriff Timothy Zimmerly said on Tuesday.
Racher Yoder, 15, was shot while in a carriage on the way home.
It seems he is struck by stray bullet, Zimmerly said. Neighbors told authorities he had fired a weapon while cleaning it, and the sheriff believes that the bullet hit the girl.
However, the official decision waiting for the results of ballistic reports, Zimmerly said.
CNN reported that affiliate WOIO Yoder was on his way back from the Christmas party when he was shot. He managed to stay close to his home in the buggy until, at which point he fell out, WOIO said. The victim’s brother was found on the ground, he said Yoder.
